Granite for Bathroom Countertops

Granite is a very practical choice to have in your bathroom because of its strength and durability. Granite is porous, but when properly sealed it can repel water and staining. It has many advantages as a bathroom countertop surface, including:

Heat resistance to hot hair-tools
Ability to take on everyday messes and bathroom routines
Low maintenance and easy cleaning

However, we do suggest wiping any acidic or highly concentrated liquids from the surface as they occur to avoid etching. Aside from bathroom countertops and vanities, granite can also be used for shower surrounds or bathroom flooring. Marble for Bathroom Countertops

Marble is an extremely elegant and timeless stone that you cannot go wrong with. It has earned its name due to its unique veining and distinct characteristics. It is a natural stone, so it is porous, but with extra maintenance and routine cleaning, it can be practical for your bathroom countertop design.

Messes and liquids should be promptly cleaned to avoid any staining or etching, and routine sealing should be done to avoid water absorption. There are many different types of marble, some softer than others, so some slabs are more suitable in the bathroom than others. Limestone performs and functions similarly to travertine. It is also highly porous and reactive to acids, so it needs to be sealed properly, especially when used for bathroom countertops and wet areas. Even though it is sensitive to staining, etching and even scratches, it can be used in bathroom applications depending on its intended use. Limestone may be best used in less frequented bathrooms or spaces, but don’t let this stop you from making it an option.
